This superspeed reactive electromagnetic display is 44,000 dots of promotional awesome

TNT wanted to launch its new crime show Perception, in style, and we have to give it to 'em, this is pretty cool. Working with professional technological tinkerers, Breakfast, they created a 23 x 12 foot display made up of 44,000 electromagnetic dots. Imagine those ticker boards you see at train stations, jazzed up with a little modern flavor. The dots are white on one side, black on the other, and move at 15 times the speed of their typical rail-station counterparts -- giving a real-time effect. The installation is set up in Manhattan's Herald Square until July 29th, and is fully interactive. When pedestrians walk past, the board updates to reflect their movement, and this "silhouette" interacts with words and images on the screen. Extra sensory stimulation also comes from the noise the board makes, literally letting you hear your movements. If a picture paints a thousand words, then 44,000 dots in a video paints even more. Head past the break to see the beast in action, plus more details on how it was done.

Delicious Digg Facebook LinkedIn reddit StumbleUpon Twitter Bit.ly Email PDFmyURL

Columbus, Ohio ? Consumers who utilize text messaging to communicate with friends and family will be happy to learn about a new website named SMSSheep.com. The website allows users to send a free text message to anyone in the world with a mobile phone. There are no charges and no restrictions as members are allowed to send as many messages as they want to.

Advances in modern technology have slowly led to many improvements in the way people communicate. In the past, sending messages back and forth was time consuming and expensive, and messages would often get lost in the mail never reaching the intended party. Today, sending a free text message to a loved one is as easy as getting online then going to SMSSheep.com.

With SMSSheep.com distance is not an issue as long as the recipient has a smartphone or a cell phone that?s capable of receiving SMS messages. SMS is an acronym for Short Message Service. It is a simple technology that was invented to allow consumers to send short text messages from one cellular phone to another. Many cell phone providers charge their subscribers anywhere from .01 cents to .05 cents, or they place limits on the amount messages that can be sent from their account.

?I live in Philadelphia and my family lives in San Diego. My brother sent me your link about a week ago and told me I didn?t have any more excuses to send him messages to let them know how I was doing. I used to say that I didn?t want to pay to send text messages, so he got online and found your site. Now I use it to communicate with my family almost every day.? ? Paul Chesterfield

The use of cell phones and the Internet are common place as billions of people across the world own a cell phone or computer. Many consumers in the United States and other technologically advanced societies own both a cell phone and a computer so it?s not a problem for them to send a free text message and bypass the companies that charge for the service.

About

The SMS Sheep website was created to allow people to send unlimited text messages to any mobile phone in the world. There is no need to register or provide any personal information. Sending messages is quick and easy and the website?s creators only ask that people spread the word about the website to their friends and family members.

What is the cheapest auto insurance? Question | Texas car ...

What is the cheapest auto insurance?

I am 18 and have insurance with Progressive, I have no tickets or accidents, and just for basic liability i am paying $287.96

You can compare quotes from different companies for free at: Usa insurance quotes

Progressive is high ? I didn?t like them. And Safe Auto ?says? it?s the lowest, but it?s not. I prefer Century 21 Insurance, or Universal Casualty Company. I?m paying $690 for a full year of coverage ? that?s less than $60/mo.

But be forwarned ? insurance isn?t only based on your record. It?s based on your car. The price I quoted you is for a 1988 conversion van. If your vehicle is 1-2 years old from the manufactured date, your insurance will sky-rocket, no matter who you use. If it?s a sports car, you?ll be charged more than a family-car sedan, because of profiling ? sports cars go faster, and are sleeker, and thus are more likely to be driven by reckless drivers.

Also, if your car is used for work (ie ? if you transport clients, or if you use your vehicle regularly during office hours for work use), your insurance will also be higher. So be aware when you ask for quotes to ask for specific guidelines that will raise your quote (and, also ask if the insurance will be raised, or just immediately stopped, in the case of a ticket or accident. Some cheaper companies will do this.)
Wow.

That?s a chunk of change for liability. What are you driving? You might want to get something less sporty if thats keeping it high.

Call around some other places and get quotes, but the only reason I can think of that you are paying that much would be if you had a wreck (or two) on your record (or a bunch of speeding tickets).
I think Geico is the cheapest, thats what I use. I am only paying $130 for six months, liability.

Republican Party ad takes softer approach on Obama

WASHINGTON (AP) ? In a campaign fast growing nasty, the Republican National Committee is trying a gentler approach. President Barack Obama tried to fix the economy, says an ad running in seven battleground states, then tells viewers: "It's OK to make a change."

That type of soothing pitch may have a place in advertisements for toothpaste or even coffee. But in presidential campaigns, advertisers don't generally spend much time giving voters permission or nudging them toward a conclusion. They attack, demand, ridicule, taunt.

In this case, there's a method to the lack of meanness. Several Republicans who were not involved in making the ad say a softer approach may be essential to the effort to defeat Obama in November, given polls that show he retains strong personal favorability ratings.

The RNC ad is "geared to independent voters, especially women, who are disappointed in Obama and about the economy, but who still like him and are sort of pulling for him," said Charlie Black, an informal adviser to the Romney campaign who was not involved with the commercial.

It lacks a "mean tone," he said, yet focuses on Obama's economic record, which is at the core of the GOP attempt to defeat him.

The ad shows Obama taking the oath of office in 2009 and says he had big plans to fix the economy and shrink unemployment. "What did we get? National debt over $15 trillion and climbing, unemployment above 8 percent for 40 straight months, an economic crisis with no end in sight," the announcer says.

The voice then says of Obama: "He tried. You tried. It's OK to make a change."

Republican presidential rival Mitt Romney is neither mentioned nor shown.

The ad ? airing in Colorado, Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire, Nevada, North Carolina and Virginia at a cost of about $5 million ? is a stark contrast to the most recent commercials aired by Romney, Obama and various allies.

A spot by the president's re-election campaign features Romney singing "America the Beautiful" in a tune that grows increasingly off-key. Messages float by on screen saying that his firms sent jobs overseas, that Massachusetts outsourced jobs to India when he was governor, and that as an investor he kept millions in Switzerland and had tax havens in the Cayman Islands and Bermuda.

One of Romney's recent commercials is a frontal assault on Obama's character.

"When a president doesn't tell the truth, how can we trust him to lead?" it says, rejecting the charge that the Republican once shipped jobs overseas. It says that in 2008 "candidate Obama lied about Hillary Clinton," and shows the one-time presidential candidate saying, "So shame on you, Barack Obama."

Not coincidentally, perhaps, Clinton drew widespread support from women in her own presidential campaign.

There are hints that Romney and his close aides also recognize the significance of the polling data about voters viewing Obama favorably.

"Even if you like Barack Obama, we can't afford Barack Obama," the Republican challenger said in a springtime speech in Charlotte, N.C. In his case, the line was uttered in an otherwise scorching condemnation of the president's handling of the economy.

Nor do the leading independent groups go for the softer stuff in their own ads.

Crossroads GPS, aligned with Republicans, is on the air with a commercial that features ominous-sounding music. First a newsman and then an announcer tick off grim statistics: Weak job growth, "over three years of crushing unemployment. American manufacturing shrinking again. President Obama's plan: spend more. He's added $4 billion in debt every day."

Priorities Action USA, a super PAC that supports the president, has an ad that says while in business, Romney "bought companies, drowned them in debt ...Thousands of workers lost jobs, benefits and pensions. But for every company he drove into the ground, Romney averaged a $92 million profit ... If Romney wins, the middle class loses."

The RNC ad was the work of an independent expenditure unit, which receives funding from the party, but no direction on what type of ad to make.

Jim Murphy, who heads the unit, did not respond to an email request for comment.

Sean Spicer, a spokesman for the Republican Party, said the ad's existence was evidence of the RNC's financial turnaround.

He said that in early 2011 the party had a debt of more than $20 million, and cash on hand totaling only about $300,000. It now has about $70 million in cash on hand and has cut the debt to $9 million.

Triumph's Proposed Plant in India Could Increase Production 10x ...

Triumphs Proposed Plant in India Could Increase Production 10x New Small Displacement Bike Coming 2012 triumph street triple 635x422

Like many other brands ahead of it, Triumph is getting ready to enter the Indian market in a serious way. Eyeing a piece of property in?Narasapur in the?Karnataka region of India, Triumph?s initial plan is to build a facility capable of producing 250,000 units per year, with an expansion plan that could double that number. Currently producing 50,000 units a year in its British and Thai facilities, Triumph?s move into India could increase the company?s production ten-fold per annum.

Said to be bringing mostly its full-size premium offerings to the Indian market, Triumph is also rumored to be working on a small-displacement single-cylinder motorcycle that could be developed with the Indian and Southeast Asian markets specifically in mind. With India?s premium motorcycle market still quite small, though growing, the initial quarter-million unit estimates from the British brand are sure to be heavily relying on this new small-displacement model, rumored to be called the Triumph Cub.

Narasapur is rapidly becoming the hub of India?s two-wheeled industry, as Honda has recently setup its third production plant in the area. Already home to TVS, which is said to be in talks regarding a partnership with BMW, Narasapur is ideally situated near India?s Bangalore-Chennai road and is near tothe Chennai port. Other OEM parts suppliers are also setting up shop in Narasapur, helping to perpetuate the industry?s shift to the area.

Expecting to bring its Indian factory online in 2015, Triumph still has a bit of time before it can begin local production in motorcycle?s saving grace of a market. The timeframe on the factory could thus also dictate when we would see the company?s small-displacement offering. Expected to be in the 250cc-350cc displacement range, the Triumph Cub (as some are calling it) will be a water-cooled single-cylinder bike that features a four-valve cylinder head.

Enjoying Summer Garden Parties - Home And Family Blog

Summer is a time for being outdoors, soaking up the sunshine and getting some much needed fresh air after the long, cold winter. Barbecues and garden parties are the perfect social activity at this time of year.
BBQ

Weather

Yet, with the warm but wet weather we are experiencing in the UK this year, it can be tricky to find the right time to do it. There may well be beautiful, warm summer evenings, yet chances are the grass is too wet and muddy to even think about spending time in the garden, much less invite friends and neighbours to join us.

High heels sinking into muddy lawns, children slipping and becoming filthy, and not being able to relax on a blanket due to the wet ground all make British citizens wary of trying to arrange outdoor social gatherings.
Atlanta-Patio-Grill

Solutions

Some households are lucky enough to have a patio or decking area in the garden, and can therefore invite guests to join them on the relatively dry and stable ground. However, not all of us have the space for this, or simply don?t want to give over part of our green area to concrete. The solution is at hand, however.
Grass Stains

Artificial Grass

Covering all or some of your lawn space in synthetic turf can solve your summer garden party crisis. The artificial grass never gets muddy when it rains, and the porous surface drains quickly, meaning you can be ready to go within a very short time after the latest rain shower. It also takes away a lot of the preparation time involved in throwing a garden party, as there is no need to struggle round the lawn with the mower the morning before. Synthetic grass always looks like a perfectly trimmed lawn with absolutely no effort required on your part.

As there is no soil underneath, artificial grass is the perfect surface for relaxing or playing games on whilst still dressed in party finery. There are no wet patches or hidden holes for heels to sink into, and ladies can wear this season?s maxi dresses with confidence, knowing they are not going to go home with a muddy hemline.

Children can run around uninhibited and still head for home as clean as they arrived. Grass stains and muddy knees become a thing of the past. Barbecues and picnic tables sit firmly on the smooth surface without a wobble, and all without losing the pleasing outdoor atmosphere that green spaces provide.

Are you comfortable in your own skin? - The Louisiana Weekly

16th July 2012 ????? 0 Comments

By Fr. Jerome LeDoux
Contributing Columnist

When Newsweek editor Tina Brown saw the outrageous Time magazine cover of a mother breastfeeding her three-year-old, she laughed out loud and shouted, ?Let the games begin!? Therewith, she gave marching orders to her staff that was champing at the bit.

With one-upmanship in mind, the staff cooked up an idea even more preposterous than competitor Time magazine?s cover. In support of gay marriage, their cover features an image of President Obama sporting a brilliant rainbow halo over his head, with the presumptuous headline blaring unashamedly, ?The First Gay President.?

The comparison is made, of course, with Black author Toni Morrison?s satiric reference to President Bill Clinton as ?the first Black President,? because, during the Whitewater investigation, so many treated him as if he were Black. ?After all, Clinton displays almost every trope of blackness: single-parent household, born poor, working-class, saxophone-playing, McDonald?s-and-junk-food-loving boy from Arkansas.?

Regardless of what others think and say about marriage, are you comfortable in your own skin, shoes, lot, condition, circumstances and cultural/religious beliefs? Does it make a difference to you what various enclaves of people think about marriage?

There is a message for us humans in the monogamous unions of animals such as albatrosses, swans, brolga cranes, anglefish, gibbons monkeys, termites, turtle doves, crows, kookaburras, shingleback skinks, wolf eels, black vultures, bald eagles, golden eagles, condors, sandhill cranes, pigeons, red-tailed hawks, ospreys and prairie voles.

To our embarrassment, some of these animals are more faithful in their mate relationships than many of us humans, even to the extent that black vultures attack individuals that dare to try running around on their partner. Also, the above-mentioned relationships are male to female, although there are rare animal lone homosexual cases.

With even irrational animals being part of the parade, humans ? also known as rational animals ? displayed permanent male-to-female relationships as early as human beings began to farm and herd cattle circa 9000 B.C. Before then, our ancestors were hunters-gatherers with no time or means for anything but tribal group sexual unions.

Even after the advent of farming and herding, millennia passed before any kind of legal documentation was demanded from those couples who decided to form a permanent union. It is safe to say that same-sex unions were not even in the conceptual phase then.

Western society traces some aspects of modern family relationships and customs to ancient Mesopotamia and Babylonia where ideas such as the wedding, marriage, and divorce began. Innumerable legal documents from the Sumerian to the Seleucid period show the individual as father, son, brother, or husband. All these relationships started with a proposal, followed by the marriage contract and finally the wedding.

Marriage as we know it has drawn heavily from the Old Testament. Jesus sternly quoted Genesis 2:24 in Matthew 19:4-5, ?Have you not heard that from the beginning the Creator ?made them male and female? and said, ?For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh???

No paragons of virtue, the ancient Greeks and Romans nevertheless held marriage in high esteem, viewing it as a fundamental social institution. The great lawgiver Solon even contemplated making marriage compulsory. Under the guidelines of Pericles in Athens, bachelors were excluded from certain important public positions.

In puzzling contradictions, Sparta encouraged sexual relationships between men, even pederasty?sex with adolescent boys?yet insisted that men marry and produce children. No matter what their sexual orientation, single and childless men were treated with scorn. Clearly, no thought was given to same-sex legal unions, let alone marriage.

Political problems begin when some individuals are determined to modify all the above-referenced aspects of marriage to include the third sex?the gay world?who plead that they should have their equal time in the sun since they were born as they are. That, of course, bleeds over into semantics and reduces this dialogue to an exercise in semantics.

The main driving motives for desiring same-sex marriage are, of course, respect, public acknowledgement and the dignity of not being considered evil or second-rate.
