If this does not get you excited then nothing will! This article is written for two kinds of people in mind- for someone who, financially, things are difficult. And for someone who cannot craft a personal roadmap to success, happiness, contentment etc! This article will shed some light!
First let?s put this into perspective, what is personal development? It is the act of taking steps towards improving yourself or life in areas you feel you are lacking. It is also an act of finding a better way to handle dysfunctional emotions and thoughts. It just depends on an individual on what they want to handle about their life.
Second question is, why do we need self development? Because as we grow up we experience life in a way we totally didn?t envision when we were young. Our life plans crumble before our very eyes; we get emotionally challenged by events happening in and around us, we develop habitual behaviors that don?t serve us, etc. So we need self help materials to unlearn our old ways and habits that do not serve us anymore, we need ways to improve our relationships, we need to heal wounds from childhood, we need robust ways to deal with a whirlpool of our destructive emotions.
On the flip side we need self improvement to acquire new skills to handle challenging situations in life better. We learn to read and write, how to run a business, how to eat healthy, how to be a better communicator, marketing, etc. We develop personal skills to be a better employee, a loving spouse, a compassionate boss, or be qualified for that new job to get a better pay, learn how to use the computer to avoid being laid off, etc. The list goes on and on. It boils down to an individual noticing what it is that they need to develop about themselves to enjoy the fruits of what they would become.
If you?ve noticed I have described two different types of self development ? self development dealing with the psyche, or mind or emotion (something along those lines) and another that involves acquiring a skill like writing, communication, or dancing etc. The former normally addresses your subconscious while the latter is a classroom kind of style.
Let me explain, self development that addresses your subconscious works on your belief system, it helps you to (consciously or unconsciously) identify your self-defeating thoughts to replace them with constructive thoughts. This is the kind of self help that suddenly you find yourself seeing life in a whole new way and realize your fate is not cast in stone. You become aware that you can craft your future the way you like.
The classroom type of self development, is the kind of teaching where you practically do something. Say you want to learn how to drive a car, your take a course. You want to be a better mother to your child, you take a course on parenting. You want to be an internet marketer; you take a course on internet marketing?Though I say classroom style I don?t mean to say this learning must be formal. It can be an informal type of learning. You don?t need a degree or certificate to be a better parent all you need is buy self help books or attend a self growth seminar!
I don?t want to mess up these two meanings! So here is my next attempt to explain these types of self development; Lisa Nichols, one of the teachers in the hit movie The Secret, coins it beautifully in her No Matter What Home Study Course. In her introduction to the course she says this course is ?designed to speak to you in many levels, it is multi-faceted unlike traditional ones which can be linear, teaching you from many angles sort of like an octopus?? So simply put the teaching that addresses your subconscious is multi faceted while the classroom kind I refer to is more traditional style of teaching. I hope this clarifies it a bit!
There are programs that bridge the gap between classroom style of teaching and the subconscious style of personal development, and there are those that are a combination of the two. Each method or option is OK depending on the individual. Some people want to develop personal skills, some need to know how to handle certain emotions, some need to find ways to connect with their thoughts, etc. More often than not when we come to realize that we need to improve ourselves in some way, we become faced with 2 major problems;
- lack of money and/or
- the roadmap to guide our way
Lack of money may be due to not earning enough money or purchasing every self help book or program that comes our way (with no or little results) and end up being broke! The second problem (i.e. when you don?t have a roadmap to follow) is two fold; it may lead to lack of money because of haphazardly purchasing anything or just the lack of knowledge of what is best. One of the best options to alleviate the 2 above problems is to find a system or product that gives you the ability to raise more money and at the same time provide a roadmap of how you can improve your life?
I could go on here but I have lack of space to recommend a few programs you can use. However do not despair go to my resource box below and click on the link to see which programs you can use for your self development.
Tirelo Besele encourages and helps people realize that their future is not cast in stone! A choice of a very good self development program or book can mean all the difference in their life. ScienceDaily (June 18, 2012) ? The ancient reserves of methane gas seeping from the melting Arctic ice cap told Jeff Chanton and fellow researchers what they already knew: As the permafrost thaws, there is a release of methane, a powerful greenhouse gas that causes climate warming.
The trick was figuring out how much, said Chanton, the John W. Winchester Professor of Oceanography at Florida State University.
The four-member team -- whose findings were published in the journal Nature Geoscience -- documented a large number of gas seep sites in the Arctic where permafrost is thawing and glaciers receding (they found 77 previously undocumented seep sites, comprising 150,000 vents to the atmosphere). Until recently, the cryosphere (frozen soil and ice) has served to plug or block these vents. But thawing conditions have allowed the conduits to open, and deep geologic methane now escapes.
The team studied the link between natural gas seepage and the melting ice cap, using aerial photos and field data to figure out the number -- and location -- of seep holes.
So, here's the rub: The more the ice cap melts, the more methane is released into the atmosphere -- and the more the climate warms.
Why should this matter to you?
People who live in coastal areas could be directly affected, said Chanton, who analyzed the methane and dated it to more than 40,000 years old.
All this seeping methane causes more melting ice, Chanton said, which causes sea levels to rise and could affect coastal real estate values -- sooner rather than later.
How soon?
Possibly over the next 50 to 100 years, Chanton said.
"Methane is a very strong greenhouse gas that's grown three times faster than carbon dioxide since the industrial era," Chanton said. "As the Arctic warms, the ice caps melt and the fissures open, so methane escapes and causes more warming."
This phenomenon causes sea levels to rise, which is particularly problematic in Florida: "Along the flat Florida coastline, a 1-foot rise in sea level could cause anywhere from 10 to 100 feet of shoreline retreat -- erosion," Chanton said. "For us here in Florida, this is really important because we can expect the coast to recede."
That beach house, he warned, might be in peril: "It may not be there for your grandchildren."

New Exodia is a City Divided into three parts: Muspell, Nifl, and Vanir Tower. Someone is controlling some of the most powerful people in the city and it is your job to discover who it is and defeat them, or join his ever-evolving army against the denizens of New Exodia!
The Mastermind behind the entire fiasco is an unknown figure, so delving into the Fights seems to be the best way to discovering his whereabouts, which will then lead to discovering where he is, and eventually who he is. Yet it seems that whenever someone gets close enough, they disappear. They join his side. How and why is hunt!
_____City explanation
As stated before, New Exodia is broken into three sections. It's a massive, twenty-mile diameter city that is divided down the middle, from north to south. The sides are night-and-day drastic in diversity, but both require each other to survive and thrive.
Muspell (western side) | The leading industry on resources. The wasteland peninsula that New Exodia was founded on had one major cache of resources and so the village was built around that. Eventually, the township grew and grew into the booming city that it is today. The harder working class remained in Muspell as refiners, miners, and heavy industry, leaving most of the city dingy and darker. These people would be considered the leather-necks of New Exodia.
Vanir Tower (central) | The high life. The elitism society. The hierarchy of the city and it's primary functioning government that is striving to be a dictatorship as an entire unit, which ends up looking more and more communistic, without the militant hands-on approach. They squander their funds and run the primary trade routes and own the underground subway system that is only accessible to them and guarded by several functions, including those unseen.
It's a pristine ivory post that stands around thirty stories high in the middle and is built upon a four story wall that segregates the western and eastern sides. This brings cause for bad-blood as the Niflites feel entitled or better than those in Muspell, for not having to live in filthy conditions. The wall dividing is guarded and patrolled by those who work for Vanir Tower, an interesting and secretive organization known as KNIGHT. Considered to be elite guards, they work personally under Vanir Tower's executives and take only express orders from the chairmen of the board.
Nifl (eastern side) | The technological hub of everything that happens in New Exodia. They created the products to mine and refine the resources that come out of Muspell and in turn, gain those resources to continue the cycle of bettering life for all of New Exodia. Or that is what they claim. Nifl is clean. Modern, straight lines. Whites and stainless steels are amplified by the excessive use of glass to prove their better way of life and superiority to those on the west-side.
The major note of interest in Nifl is a company called Xion Corporation (Core), who is the major intelligence and development hub in Nifl. There is speculation to unknown ties and deeper inner workings that the public is not aware of, however they continue to provide the excellent necessary technology to function, and thus anything bad against them is chalked up to rival propaganda or rumor.
_____Character's, Powers, & FUN!
- Bring a friend and create your own gang / clan / faction. Bring a few.
- Start a war, but know that there might be consequences.
Think of Buffy or Angel, Harry Potter, or Heroes.
Humans are relatively ignorant when it comes to things of the supernatural world and realms. They don't care to know and would love nothing more than to remain as cattle for those who wish to prey and feed on them. Most humans are manipulated in some fashion to do mundane work without them ever realizing that they're aiding someone of ability.
- However, it is known. Like legend or myth, some people speak hushed tales of the supernatural, but as stories or ghostly experiences. It is hesitantly believed that over 50% of the citizens in New Exodia are those of ability and over 90% of Vanir Employees are.
- Don't get carried away with power development. Stick to one-to-two and have fun. No world ending idiocy or a power that makes you invulnerable, etc. Play fair, get along, have fun.
_____The Fights
- T1 (story) : meaning, it needs to make sense in your character's mind and in the story line as to WHY you're trying to fight someone. If it's a sanctioned fight, cool. If it's because your character is evil, make it legit. If you jump into a thread and start fighting someone for no reason, you're more than likely going to get your ass kicked.
- We'll open a T1-training ground (spars), if you need help or assistance in learning more.
- We will not fight OOCly or cause drama. It will not be tolerated or accepted, and this is your first warning. You only get one more before you're booted.

LONDON (AP) ? Before Aung San Suu Kyi was a prisoner of conscience and a political icon, she inhabited a world of children's birthday parties, university libraries and bicycle-filled English suburbs.
The leader of Myanmar's democracy movement spent years in the university city of Oxford with her English academic husband and their two sons. She left one day in 1988 to care for her sick mother, thinking she would be gone for weeks. Almost a quarter of a century later, she is about to return for the first time.
On Monday, Suu Kyi begins a weeklong trip to Britain as part of a European tour. Her itinerary includes talks with Prime Minister David Cameron, an address to Parliament and a meeting with Prince Charles.
But the most bittersweet moment will likely be her homecoming to Oxford, where on Wednesday the 66-year-old will finally accept the honorary doctorate she was awarded in 1993, while she was under house arrest in Yangon.
Oxford looks much the same as when she left, a traffic-clogged jumble of spires and bridges and Gothic college buildings. But her children are grown and her beloved husband, Michael Aris, is dead.
"I'm sure within herself it'll be an extremely emotional moment," said Peter Popham, author of "The Lady and the Peacock," a biography of Suu Kyi. "When she left in March 1988 she expected to be away for a while, possibly a few months, but certainly not 24 years."
Suu Kyi arrived in Oxford in 1964 from a background marked by both privilege and tragedy.
She had been educated at a convent school in New Delhi, where her mother was ambassador for the country then known as Burma. Her father, Gen. Aung San, a political leader who negotiated Burma's independence from Britain, had been assassinated by political rivals in 1947, when she was 2.
She studied politics, philosophy and economics at Oxford University's then-women-only St. Hugh's College, a handsome collection of red brick Edwardian buildings set in extensive gardens.
Student friend Ann Pasternak Slater recalled a striking figure whose "firm moral convictions and inherited social grace contrasted sharply with the tatty dress and careless manners, vague liberalism and uncertain sexual morality" of her English counterparts.
Suu Kyi was not a party animal ? she tasted alcohol just once, to see what it was like ? but did embrace other Oxford traditions.
In the essay collection "Freedom From Fear," Pasternak Slater described her learning to operate a punt ? Oxford's characteristic flat-bottomed boats ? and to ride a bicycle, swapping her traditional Burmese long skirt, the lungi, for a pair of white jeans.
While at Oxford, Suu Kyi met Aris, a Himalayan scholar who later served as tutor to the children of the king of Bhutan. They married in 1972 ? on condition that if her country ever needed her, she would go.
Neither imagined how high the price would be.
"She thought she might go to Burma one day to set up a mobile library once the kids were grown and Michael was retired," said Rebecca Frayn, screenwriter of "The Lady," a recent feature film about Suu Kyi. "They had a little dream that he would grow orchids."
The couple lived in Bhutan and London, then settled in Oxford when Aris got an academic post. Suu Kyi looked after sons Alexander and Kim and pursued doctoral studies.
Frayn said the future Nobel peace laureate embraced her role as academic wife and "utterly devoted mother."
"She was famed for her exquisitely organized birthday parties," Frayn said. "The common thing is that she did whatever she did to the Nth degree."
In March 1988, Suu Kyi returned to Myanmar to nurse her dying mother, and found herself on the front line of mass pro-democracy protests that erupted soon after. The hospital where her mother was being treated was inundated with injured demonstrators.
As the daughter of a national hero, Suu Kyi was an instant emblem of the movement. She embraced her destiny and helped form the National League for Democracy ? with the support of her far-off husband.
"From the outset, they knew it was a tough decision to go into politics," Popham said. "But I don't think any of them had an idea of how hard it was going to be. Michael thought the regime would collapse within months and they would be reunited by Christmas 1988."
In fact, Aris saw his wife only a handful of times after she left Oxford.
The NLD won elections in 1990, but was kept from power by the military junta. Suu Kyi spent much of the next 20 years under house arrest, finally being released in November 2010. In April, she won a seat in the country's national assembly, and is campaigning for further reform.
The couple's predicament took a cruel twist in 1997, when Aris was diagnosed with what turned out to be terminal prostate cancer. The junta would have allowed Suu Kyi to leave Myanmar to visit him ? but she feared she would not be allowed to return. He applied 30 times for visas to visit her; all were rejected.
"He was adamant she shouldn't come back," Frayn said. "He was convinced (his visa) would be granted and he would die in her arms."
Aris died in Oxford on his 53rd birthday in 1999. He had not seen his wife in more than three years.
Frayn said the years of separation had left a "complex emotional legacy" for Suu Kyi's sons, now in their 30s.
Kim Aris lives in Oxford and has visited his mother several times since her release from house arrest. Elder brother Alexander ? who at age 18 delivered the 1991 Nobel Peace Prize address on behalf of his mother ? lives in a Buddhist community in Portland, Oregon. Neither has given interviews to the media.
Suu Kyi, too, rarely speaks of her emotions ? a reflection, Frayn said, both of her Buddhist faith and of her political convictions.
"She is surrounded in the National League for Democracy by people who spent many years in prison, and in some senses her context is that she got off lightly compared to a lot of her close political colleagues," Frayn said. "She has said that this is in a sense her cross to bear, the long-term separation from her sons.
"A journalist once said to her that her story was like a Greek tragedy. She absolutely rebuked him and said: I made a choice."
